About Our Founder

Mr. Kibirango Fred is the 4th born out of 7 children. His father did blue color jobs. Fred’s mother locally brewed alcohol which she sold in her small bar. She was the bread winner. Fred and his siblings were attendants in her bar. This way of life, coupled with his father’s drinking problem caused a lot of stress on the family. The family was constantly in need since the bar brought in every little income. The income could not sustain the children in one school. Each term they defaulted on school fees, and were moved to another school.

In 1997, Fred was considered for sponsorship at Agape Child Development Center (Kampala) a compassion assisted project. While in the sponsorship program, Fred received a dramatic change in his life as he encountered the God of the Bible and committed his life to Jesus Christ. Fred noticed that things were done differently in this program. Growing up, his family went to church on Christmas day only as a norm. They never gave thanks before a meal. God brought men in Fred’s life who modeled biblical principles for him. Fred excelled in school taking on spiritual leadership in scripture union in secondary school.

After completing Secondary level, Fred was considered for Compassion’s leadership Development program which trained him as a leader and gave him an opportunity for under graduate education. He graduated with a first-class degree in Economics and Management.

Before his graduation, he asked God what he wanted him to do with his life. He realized that about 90% of the sponsored children in Compassion and other organizations were raised by their mothers or female guardians though they had living fathers. His own father was passive and distant. He wondered what he could do about it. After graduation, Fred, Mr. Kalema Steven, and Ms. Kampire Agnes started The Son Initiative a ministry burdened by the condition of men and their absence from their position.

As Fred ministered to boys and men, he continuously realized his need to study to rightly divide the word of truth. He enrolled for a master’s degree in Contextualized Pastoral Ministry at Lancaster Bible College and Capital Seminary, PA. through the Pastor’s Discipleship Network and graduated in 2023. Fred also graduated with a master’s degree in Institutional Management and leadership in 2024 to sharpen his leadership skills. Fred is a trainer and games facilitator. Fred is currently the Executive Director of The Son Initiative. He serves as the youth Pastor at Agape Baptist Church and Chaplain at Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau.

Fred resides in Kampala, Uganda with his wife Daphine, sons, Tylon, Kolaiah, Kiaan, and daughter, Kalah. His one passion continues to be “Every man for Christ” because “Every man needs Christ”
